Giveaway Terms and Conditions

With any giveaway that Scala Monthly does, there are a few terms and conditions that should be kept in mind.

Prizes

Prizes will vary from month to month.

  • January 2021: $25 Amazon Gift Card
  • February 2021: None

Setting

Unless otherwise specified, all giveaways will be done through Twitter.

How to Enter

Unless otherwise specified, giveaways will be entered by sending a tweet containing:

  • A link to your working solution to the given month's challenge.
  • @ScalaMonthly mentioned inside of it. This will allow us to find your tweet when picking a winner.

All submissions must take place prior to the beginning of the next month. For example, in order to enter January's giveaway, you will need to have sent your tweet out prior to February 1, 00:00 (UTC).

Example: "Just finished January's @ScalaMonthly! Here is a link to my solution: <link here>"

Choosing a Winner

Winners will be chosen at complete random out of all the people who tweeted a link to a working solution and mentioned @ScalaMonthly in their tweet. You do not need to finish the fundamentals to be entered to win, you only need to finish the main challenge.

Other Rules

Multiple Accounts

If you are found to have posted from multiple accounts to enter the giveaway, you will be ineligible to win.

Repeated Sending of Entry Tweet

If you send your entry tweet for a singular month more than once, you will be ineligible to win.

Solutions Containing Code Copied Without Permission

If your code is found to have been obtained, in full or part, in violation with a license agreement, your solution will not be counted. All Scala Monthly walk-throughs are posted under a license that permits copying and reuse, so you don't need to worry if you are using the walk-through. This is intended to promote compliance with software licenses rather than to police people writing all of their own code. In other words, copying code is fine as long as you have permission to do so.
